Barcelona star Fermin Lopez says he was happy to help after coming on as a substitute and playing a key role in Saturday’s win over Espanyol.
The midfielder had a hand in both of Barcelona’s late goals and spoke about the importance of the win after the game.
“We know it was an important victory, in the derby, what it means for the fans… maybe we didn’t play our best game but we knew how to take advantage of our opportunities,” he told the media.
“You have to help the team, whether you’re a starter
or a substitute. I’m very happy to have helped and to have gotten the three points.”
Lopez also took time out to praise goalkeeper Joan Garcia who had a great game against his former team.
“Joan is spectacular. We know he’s a fantastic goalkeeper. The match was difficult for him because of the pressure, and he played a great game. We’re very happy that he’s a Barcelona player,” he added..
“I don’t know if we’re favorites or not, the league is very long but we’re in a good run right now and we have to maintain our lead over Real Madrid.”
