The card for ROH Before Before Dishonor was shuffled the night before the PPV. Nigel McGuinness is out of the Pure Championship match, and his replacement is a former champion. Mistico and Mascara Dorada have their work cut out to defend the ROH tag titles in a four-way. Red Velvet has her hands full against AEW stars in the women’s TV title division. Plus, more is in store for the event on Friday night (Aug. 21, 2026) from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The big news is that Nigel McGuinness
is not medically cleared for the ROH PPV. He suffered a foot injury last week in the AEW Continental Challenge Cup and still pushed through the pain to compete in the quarterfinals on Dynamite. The plan was for Nigel to honor his commitment to challenge Lee Moriarty for the ROH Pure Championship. Plans change. Despite pulling out of the Pure bout, Nigel is still focused on advancing to All In at Wembley Stadium.
That opportunity closes for McGuinness, and it opens for Katsuyori Shibata. The veteran defeated Wheeler Yuta on ROH TV to replace Nigel at the PPV. Shibata is a former Pure champion in his own right holding the title for 239 days in 2023. Shibata is 2-0 against Moriarty with a Pure title defense and a standard singles win.
CMLL’s biggest star will be in the house for Death Before Dishonor. Mistico & Mascara Dorada won the ROH Tag Team Championship from Sammy Guevara & Beast Mortos in Arena Mexico. Sky Team and LFI will run it back along with the Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett) and Top Flight (Dante Martin & Darius Martin) in a four-way.
Red Velvet has thrived as a fighting champion with the ROH women’s TV title. The more the merrier for her next title defense. Velvet will clash with Marina Shafir, Skye Blue, and Zayda Steel in a four-way
