When Julian Nagelsmann announced that Bayern Munich star goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was going to make his return to the German national team, it was reported that Hoffenheim’s Oliver Baumann, the expected starter, was unhappy to hear the news.
After Germany snuck by the USMNT 2-1, Baumann was asked about the situation with Neuer and the relationship between the two men. Baumann insisted there was no issue.
“Everything’s fine between Manu and me, all good. We get along well and we just talked about a couple
of situations from the game. This isn’t about individuals, it’s about the team,” Baumann told Sky Germany’s Kerry Hau (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Baumann had a strong performance for Germany in the victory over the USMNT as he registered three very important saves to help preserve the win. His second half stop of a blast from Brenden Aaronson saved the game from being knotted and help the Germans win their ninth game in a row.
