The Daily Merengue is a place where you can feel free to d all things football. Do not be alarmed by the overt RMCF bias. It’s in the name! Shoutout to the mods who do a fantastic job, Ezek, Valyrian Steel, Felipejack, Juninho, NeRObutBlanco and yours truly, Kung_Fu_Zizou

Xabi Alonso has been quick to identify which players he wants to form the foundation of the team and one can hazard a guess the consideration is due to the style of play intended. What we’re seeing now are the early stages of the transformation.
There’s essentially a new back 4, midfield and forward line. The manager’s intentions appear to be to build a consistent XI and instil his principles while slowing building into a a rotation system. This would allow the team to adopt his principles faster. Real Madrid ar not the most patient club but Xabi has been given license to do what he thinks is best. It’s refreshing but also dangerous as you’re given enough rope..
Franco Mastantuono

Franco Mastantuono is a special talent who judging by his early introduction is seen as ready to be a key part of the XI let alone the squad. This is unusually surprising but gives us insight into how Xabi Alonso sees the game. Where Carlo was focused primarily on experience Xabi is taken in by potential just as much.
Matchday 2

The ffirst game was more like a training routine to see how well the players can keep their shape and win the ball back as well as retain possession. The second game might see us put our Firepower to the test against newly promoted Oviedo. While Kylian Mbappe sparked against Osasuna, there was little to write home about in terms of the potency of our attack on the night. This must surely bee rectified as La Liga sides are known for being staunch defensive outfits against the Merengues.
