There was a lot that went wrong for Juventus in Tuesday’s embarrassing Champions League play-off round loss to Galatasaray in Istanbul, and losing their best defender was one of the biggest contributing factors in that defeat. Once Gleison Bremer walked off the field after trying to solider through for a few more minutes, that is when the slide started to be put in motion, with it being kicked into overdrive immediately after halftime.
That all eyes turned toward Bremer’s subsequent visit to J Medical
on Wednesday morning.
The end result?
Not much news — which, considering the alternative, is pretty damn good news for a player who is so important to whatever it is Juventus are going to be doing the final three months of the 2025-26 season.
After undergoing tests at J Medical, Juventus and Bremer can both breathe a massive sigh of relief because those scans revealed no major damage the Brazilian’s thigh in his right leg. No lesions, no pulled muscles, nothing that will cause him to suddenly be out until after the March international break. At least that’s what the reports out of Italy are telling us following Bremer leaving the much-maligned medical facility that is a hop, skip and a jump away from the Allianz Stadium that also happens to be the same place where medal-winning Olympians have visited in the lead-up to the Milan-Cortina Games.
Bremer will now, according to those same reports, be monitored on a day-to-day basis as he looks to get back on the field as soon as possible. This Saturday’s matchup with sixth-place Como — which recorded a 1-1 draw with AC Milan on Wednesday night ahead of their weekend trip to Turin — seems like it is out of the cards, but the second leg against Galatasaray could very well be possible if the next few days go as we all hope they do regarding Bremer’s short rehab process.
Considering how many minutes he has played since returning from injury in December, seeing Bremer get a weekend off isn’t the worst thing in the world regardless of the context of it. But, of course, having to sweat out Bremer’s fitness the next couple of games — or basically every game going into said March international break — is not exactly going to be an enjoyable experience. Like, you know, the same kind of bad experience as Juve’s defensive level is when Bremer is off the field or just flat-out tired as he’s looked in recent games.
No matter what, though, here’s one thing we do know: Get better soon, big guy. Juve need you back at full strength, rested and ready to go, as soon as that can possibly happen. There’s only so much Bremer-less defending one can watch and manage to stay sane.
