Stories have been breaking like wildfire today about players being nominated in Jürgen Klopp’s first ever Germany squad, but most of the reports have been about midfielders or wingers, but we also have an indication of at least one striker that will be called up in the September squad.
Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has reported that Eintracht Frankfurt striker Younes Ebnoutalib will be called up by the DFB on Thursday after scoring 4 goals with club already this season. Ebnoutalib’s Eintracht Frankfurt teammate
Jonathan Burkardt will also reportedly be called up as well.
Ebnoutalib has never represented Germany at the youth level before, but has most recently represented Morocco at the U-15 level. It is safe to say that he hasn’t been on the radar in recent years but similar to Denis Undav, he has become a solid striker that has developed later than most.
It would certainly be a cinderella story for a player who was unable to find time playing for a Serie C side three seasons ago, and in the 2. Bundesliga two seasons ago. However, his last season with Elversberg caught the attention of Eintracht Frankfurt, where he now has the opportunity to be on the big stage.
