It has been a frustrating few weeks for Bayern Munich supporters, and the injury list is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. What initially looked like a few manageable absences has turned into a significant squad availability problem at a particularly demanding point in the season.
Jamal Musiala is still working his way back to full fitness, Luis Díaz has only recently resumed individual training with the ball, and Manuel Neuer has also been dealing with fitness concerns. Aleksandar Pavlović,
Kim Min-jae, and Jonas Urbig have dealt with their own problems, while Ismael Saibari and Serge Gnabry are facing a more significant spell on the sidelines. Bayern Munich has also had to navigate Joshua Kimmich’s personal loss and Vincent Kompany’s recent health issues. None of that even factors in the appendectomy that has sidelined seldom-used midfielder Bara Sapoko Ndiaye or Michael Olise’s banged-up knee.
The timing could hardly be worse. Bayern Munich has important Champions League fixtures, a demanding Bundesliga schedule, and the expectation of competing for every available trophy. The depth that looked so encouraging earlier in the season is suddenly being tested in ways nobody wanted.
There are still plenty of reasons to believe in this team. Harry Kane, Dayot Upamecano, and several other key players remain capable of carrying Bayern Munich through difficult stretches. Interim boss Aaron Danks has shown that he can get this team playing some outstanding football, too.
But how much does the growing injury list change your outlook?
Are you still confident that Bayern Munich can compete for the Champions League and dominate domestically, or have the injuries, uncertainty, and lack of available options started to dampen your excitement about this season?
