The Detroit Lions (0-1) face off against the Chicago Bears (0-1) in a pivotal Week 2 game. To open the season, both teams dropped a divisional game, and with the Green Bay Packers already sitting at 2-0 (with wins over 2024 playoff teams), both teams can ill afford to fall behind two games in two weeks. But, more than likely, that will be a reality for one of these teams.
Media and fans will look at this matchup as the return of former Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, who now holds the Bears
head coach job. But Lions players and coaches have been downplaying that storyline all week.
“I’m looking forward to seeing our players respond off of a loss,” defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard said this week. “I could(n’t) care less who’s calling the plays, who’s over there, what’s the scenario, what the media wants to make this out to be.”
Add whatever narratives you want, this is critically important game for both teams. If the Bears want to be taken serious this early, they need to prove they can contend with the back-to-back NFC North champions. And if the Lions want to show that their window isn’t closing and that their talent is not fully dependent on coordinators, they can’t start 0-2 in the division.
So if you want to hang out with the Pride of Detroit family, stick around here for the first half of the game, which kicks off at 1 p.m. ET. We’ll have a live chat going in the comment section at the bottom of the page. When the game goes to halftime, head back to the front page and be on the lookout for the second half live chat article.
See you at 1 p.m. ET and GO LIONS!
