Former TNA president Scott D’Amore is making moves to start the new year strong. He secured a broadcast deal for Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling, a partnership with AEW/ROH for Global Wars, and took an executive role in an indie promotion founded by QT Marshall.
D’Amore revived MLP after his tenure with TNA. MLP held a few events over the past year in Canada as well as crowning Josh Alexander and Gisele Shaw as the men’s and women’s champions. The next step is international growth.
MLP announced a new broadcast
deal with Fight Nation, which has a reach of 196 countries. MLP will air major live events and content on demand. D’Amore commented, “Maple Leaf Pro’s ambition is to grow professional wrestling on an international scale. This partnership with Fight Nation represents an important step in that direction.” The new deal begins in February.
Speaking of major events, MLP is teaming with AEW/ROH for Global Wars on March 27. MLP also hosts their Uprising event the following day on March 28. Ricochet will defend the AEW National Championship in the main event of Global Wars, and the Good Brothers headline tag team action for Uprising. Both shows will air live through Triller TV with on-demand replay exclusively on ROH Honor Club.
Talent from AEW, ROH, CMLL, NJPW, and more is expected for that weekend. Other names announced for the events include Bishop Dyer (aka Baron Corbin), Mascara Dorada from CMLL, Barbaro Cavernario from CMLL, Daisuke Sasaki from DDT Pro, and Kaito Kiyomiya from NOAH.
On top of those moves for MLP, D’Amore is the new co-executive producer and creative consultant for 1 Fall Wrestling. The 1FW promotion was founded by QT Marshall. Episodes of 1FW air Tuesdays at 8 pm ET on Peachtree Sports Network and Wednesdays at 6:30 pm ET through TrillerTV.
