The Los Angeles Rams traded for Myles Garrett and Trent McDuffie not to be 2-4 through six weeks, but to compete for a Super Bowl. But the Rams plans have been derailed by poor play, penalties and injuries as the Rams continue to lose key pieces.
Garrett hasn’t suited up since Week 1, McDuffie missed week 6, Davante Adams is hurt, Aaron Donald has missed time, Jaylen Watson has missed time, Puka Nacua has missed time and more.
Alaric Jackson was suspended so we’ll file that one under poor decision
making.
Either way, the Rams had a plan, and they are punching themselves in the mouth and need to come up with the new one. I am not saying the season is over, it’s not, but it’s currently being derailed, and it’s up to the Rams to get themselves back on track.
Can they do it? Yes.
Will they do it? We have to keep watching to find out.
Rams star Kobie Turner likely going on IR due to groin injury (ramswire)
“On top of that, star defensive lineman and team captain Kobie Turner will likely have to go on injured reserve, keeping him out of action for the near future. Turner injured his groin and will be out 4-6 weeks, according to Michael J. Duarte of the California Post.
Turner played in only 23 snaps during Sunday’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals. That was the second-lowest out of the position group, with Ty Hamilton’s 18 snaps rounding out the count.“
Cardinals Have Sent Rams Into Full-Blown Meltdown After Week 6 Upset (sports.yahoo)
“”Throughout the McVay era, beating the Cardinals was about as ‘sure’ as it gets. This was supposed to be a ‘get right’ game and start a run going into the bye. Instead, they lose 18-16 to a Cardinals team that had waved the white flag on this season,” wrote Rams On SI’s Blaine Grisak.
The national stories aren’t about an incredible achievement from Arizona, who saw Mike LaFleur emerge as the second coach in NFL history to have his first two wins come on the road at the same stadium, but rather about how things are going sideways quickly in Los Angeles:“
Full list of Rams’ terrible injury updates following Week 6 loss (ramswire)
“Davante Adams, Poona Ford, Kobie Turner and Blake Grupe all got injured in the game and will miss extended time, ranging from a few weeks to the rest of the season. When it rains, it pours, and it is torrential in Los Angeles right now.
Here’s a full list of injury updates from McVay following Monday’s press conference.“
Davante Adams set for lengthy layoff as LA Rams rocked by injury blows (aol.com)
“In his 13th NFL campaign, the 33-year-old wide receiver has recorded 30 catches for 480 yards and four touchdowns this year. Adams previously missed three late-season contests with a hamstring issue last year before coming back for postseason play.
“It’s significant when you don’t have a player like Davante, but we have to be able to adjust,” McVay said. “His contributions can’t be measured. You don’t replace somebody like him, and so what you’ve got to do is you’ve got to be able to figure out what’s the next right thing? What does that look like in terms of our vision? We’ll have to adjust and adapt.”
NFC West update: LA Rams in injury crisis mode with several long-term absences (fieldgulls)
“It bodes well for Seattle, who—like Los Angeles have dropped back-to-back games and have looked like a shell of themselves as of late. However, it certainly helps one of the most dangerous forces in the NFC has as well.
Despite the injury news, the Rams are set to take on the Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers, Washington Commanders and the Cardinals over their next four games—a favourable upcoming stretch of games by all means.
Given the star power on their roster, it’s difficult to count Los Angeles out of the playoff picture, even nearing the halfway mark of the season, but there’s certainly work to be done if they want to keep up in the NFC race.“
What has gone wrong for the 2-4 Rams after ‘superteam’ hype? Can they fix it? (espn.com)
“Well, the alarms are now going off in Los Angeles. On Sunday, the Rams lost 18-16 at home to a 1-4 Cardinals team, the sort of defeat that inspires soul searching and painful self-reflection. Any team can lose when the turnovers don’t bounce its way or an injury unexpectedly costs it a key player, but neither of those were the case against Arizona. And while the Rams lost new kicker Blake Grupe to an early-game knee injury, special teams weren’t really to blame for the loss, either.
Are the 2-4 Rams, who were the prohibitive favorites to win the Super Bowl after acquiring Myles Garrett and Trent McDuffie and bringing Aaron Donald out of retirement this offseason, just not very good? Do we know enough after six games to say with confidence that the superteam Rams we expected to see heading into the season aren’t ever going to show up on the field in 2026? Is it time to write them off as Super Bowl contenders?
One thing I can say for sure: To live up to the preseason hype and win the Super Bowl, the Rams will have to do something no NFL team has ever done before. If the Rams even make it to the Super Bowl, they would be the first team in NFL history to post a losing record through six weeks and still manage to win its conference in the Super Bowl era. Playing in an era with a 17-game regular season and 14 playoff teams makes a potential turnaround a little easier for the Rams, but they would have to break 60 years of precedent to overcome this slow start.“
3 takeaways from Rams’ rash of major injuries suffered in Week 6 (ramswire)
“With all their losses, here are three takeaways on what they mean for the Rams.
Nacua needs to be at his absolute best
Puka Nacua will be called upon even more with Adams being out for an estimated 6-10 weeks. In the last year of his deal, Nacua has found his form in recent weeks and is making the ultimate push to become the NFL’s highest-paid non-quarterback.“
Legendary band to play Rams-Packers halftime show on Thanksgiving Eve (sports.yahoo)
“Netflix announced on Tuesday that legendary rock band U2 will play the halftime show during the Los Angeles Rams‘ game against the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving Eve. That game takes place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, bringing the iconic band to the Rams’ house for a special performance.
It’s the NFL’s first game ever on Thanksgiving Eve, and it comes after the Rams’ Week 11 bye. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET and will be streamed live on Netflix, just as the Rams’ season opener against the 49ers was.
U2, led by Bono and The Edge, have won 22 Grammy Awards, including Best Album for The Joshua Tree in 1987.“
Rams’ devasting wave of Week 6 injuries might be the final blow (ramblinfan)
“Defensive tackle Kobie Turner: groin injury. Outfour to six weeks, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Kicker Blake Grupe: torn ACL. Done for the year.
That’s on top of existing injuries to star cornerback Trent McDuffie, who missed the game against Arizona and is in question for Week 7. Myles Garrett, McVay said, will not return to practice this week. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year has been on injured reserve since Week 1. The Horns’ season from hell is here.
What’s next for the Rams after losing multiple stars
Where does the team go from here? First things first, they’ll have to sign a kicker. McVay expects that to happen in the next day or two. “
Commanders-49ers on ‘Monday Night Football’: What We Learned from San Francisco’s 23-17 win (nfl.com)
“Niners survive second-half hibernation. Monday night’s showdown started off lopsided just as many prognosticated. The 49ers made Odyssey-length marches look commonplace, going 64 yards or longer on four of their first five possessions and turning them into 20 points. Brock Purdy started off on fire, throwing numerous pinpoint passes and twice extending drives by scrambling to move the chains on third down or later. Christian McCaffrey scored twice, running his touchdown streak to five games, while George Kittle collected five catches for 69 yards and his fifth TD of the young season. The 49ers totaled 303 yards to Washington’s 90 at halftime, with a 20-3 lead they extended to 23-3 with a 65-yard drive for a field goal on their first possession of the third quarter. Then came the comeback. While Washington deserves a lot of the credit, the 49ers’ offensive problems can be traced back to Mike Evans going down with an Achilles injury with 1:03 remaining in the second quarter. San Francisco was able to travel another 12 yards to finish it off with a score, and the offense had the aforementioned 65-yard trek without him on its only drive of the third quarter. However, the 49ers went three-and-out on three fourth-quarter possessions to let the Commanders back in it. Evans finished the game with a team-leading 94 receiving yards. Kittle and McCaffrey had a combined 18 targets, while no other Niners pass catcher saw more than two. There was no one else healthy left to throw to, and it would’ve cost the 49ers had their defense not saved the day with two massive stops at the end of the game. Evans has been on a lot of injury reports all season, but he’s made every start. He’s clearly vital to the operation. Luckily, head coach Kyle Shanahan said after the game that Evans is only sore and won’t require more testing. That’s major for a Niners wide receiver room that has sustained heavy losses.“
Comment of the day:
“2-4 with a remaining schedule that includes; KC, Packers, SF and Seattle x2. I watched LV today. They ain’t that bad. If we can’t beat the Cards at home, who can we beat? What’re we shooting for max now 9-8 or 8-9, maybe? Won’t be good enough to make the playoffs. IM
iMO this season went down the drain because of the below reasons;
- Bad drafting in ‘24, 25 and ‘26. None of the draftees have lived up to expectations. Neither Verse, nor Fiske could ever close the deal on actual tackles and sacks. Ferguson has had little to no positive impact at TE. Then we drafted three guys who would never contribute as rookies including another TE.
- the Myles Garrett trade and associated media hype.
- the distraction of being on the fence so long about the return of Aaron Donald. Had we not acquired Garrett, Donald would’ve stayed retired and not damaged his legacy.
- Not addressing lack of talent in our starting crew of UDFA LB’s.
- Not addressing the League’s worst Special Teams crew.
- Not getting a credible #3 WR.
- The League, especially the NFC West, has solved the mystery of the McVay offensive schemes.
- Shula is a lousy DC.
- We have been victimized by some of the worst officiating I’ve seen in over 5 decades.
- This overall team is lackadaisical. There’s no chemistry, fire in the belly or force of will to put away and soundly defeat other teams.
*something bad happened to this team after the late 2025 regular season loss to Carolina. We then proceeded to lose a game we led 30-14 late at Seattle that cost us the NFC West title and then there was that final inexplicable loss at Atlanta. In the playoffs, we barely squeaked by a weak Carolina team in the last minute. I was there. Then we had to go to OT to beat a questionably good Chicago team. Finally, we lost a close one at Seattle when we couldn’t stop Cooper Kupp from converting a 3rd and long in the NFC Championship with the clock running out. It seems that we really haven’t played good fb since that November 30th loss to the Panthers. 🤔“ -SlowTightEnd
