Darian DeVries just landed his signature recruiting win at Indiana up to this point.
Darius Wabbington, a 5-star center in the class of 2027, announced his commitment to the Hoosiers on Tuesday afternoon, picking them over offers from Arizona and Illinois.
Wabbington attends Sunnyslope High School in Phoenix, Arizona, and is rated as a 5-star prospect by 247Sports, ranking in as the 12th highest-rated prospect overall and second highest-rated center in the class of 2027. He ranks as the 13th highest-rated prospect overall and remains
the second highest-ranked center in the 247Sports Composite.
The center position has been at the… uh, center of Indiana’s high school recruiting efforts for several years dating back to Archie Miller’s time leading the program. The last true center to sign with the Hoosiers out of high school was Logan Duncomb, who committed and signed during Miller’s time as head coach. Indiana has played either Trayce Jackson-Davis or transfer portal additions at center ever since.
Landing Wabbington over the Wildcats and Fighting Illini, alongside the other programs initially included in his top-6, is massive for the Hoosiers. Now DeVries and company have to show it can translate to the court this coming season.
