The San Francisco 49ers officially announced that they waived defensive tackle Evan Anderson. Anderson showed promise as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2024, but the additions of Alfred Collins and CJ West made it difficult to find playing time for Anderson.
Anderson, 6’3″, 326 pounds, didn’t have the same range as Collins and West do in the running game. Add that to the lack of pass rush, and the writing was on the wall for Anderson.
The 49ers will see if one of their undrafted free agent rookies
from this class can make the roster. Bryson Eason comes from the University of Tennessee. He’s 6’3″, 315 pounds. You can’t miss the second UDFA. James Thompson Jr. is 6’6″, 308 pounds, out of Illinois.
The team announced they brought back Kevin Givens. He signed a one-year deal. Givens first joined the Niners as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He’s spent the previous seven seasons with the 49ers. Givens is more than likely a training camp body.
