Can “The Devastator” force his way back into the title picture?
Former two-time Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight title challenger Dominick Reyes kicks off the UFC 327 main card this weekend (Sat., April 11, 2026) against No. 12-ranked Johnny Walker inside Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.
On paper, it’s chaos waiting to happen.
Two explosive, finish-first fighters with questionable durability? Yeah — expect violence.
But beyond the fireworks, there’s something bigger at stake.
With
the fight positioned on a pay-per-view main card, Reyes believes the UFC is giving him a real opportunity to reinsert himself into the title conversation.
“Well, I was on a three-fight win streak, and if I win this fight, I’ll have won four out of my last five — so it’s pretty damn good,” Reyes told MMA Junkie. “The cool thing about fighting on a title fight card is it’s a relevancy thing. We live in a ‘what have you done for me lately’ world, and everything is like short-term memory. So, if I go out there and put on a hell of a show against Johnny, with the main event being a couple of fights later, I’ll be in the conversation.”
“Whether I have to fight one more time or whatever, whatever,” Reyes concluded. “I’m relevant.”
And he might not be wrong.
Before getting knocked out by Carlos Ulberg last September (watch highlights), Reyes appeared to be building momentum again after a brutal four-fight skid that nearly derailed his career.
Now, another statement win could put him right back in the mix — especially in a division where highlight-reel finishes and timing often matter just as much as rankings.
Add in the UFC’s love for rematches…
…and Reyes’ history with the two fighters in the main event…
…and suddenly, the path back to a title shot doesn’t seem so far-fetched.
Time will tell.
