Everyone’s favorite exiled UFC flyweight contender Muhammad Mokaev may be fighting on MVP’s Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano
card May 16th.That’s according to Mokaev himself, who announced the supposed news on social media.
“Huge fight to announce — Jake Paul gonna announce it soon!” Mokaev wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Mokaev would be another solid addition to a card that is quickly filling to the brim with solid additions, especially if he ends up fighting Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson. “The Punisher”
teased that opponent in a recent interview.
“I was offered a very interesting fight,” he said back on March 12th. “Most likely it will be Demetrious Johnson. The negotiations are on, so we’re waiting, we will see.”
“Mighty Mouse” shot down the possibility, saying “Guys my black a– is retired, I’m never coming back to compete … Shame on the promoter. Muhammad Mokaev, just text me brother, they lied to you.”
But when Jake Paul is throwing around Netflix money, anything is possible.
Another possibility for Mokaev that’s on the free market is former ONE flyweight champ Adriano Moraes. Things get a bit cloudier past Johnson and Moraes, but Mokaev has proven to be willing to compete up weight classes against interesting opponents, having just taken on Arman Tsarukyan in a Hype Brazil grappling match.
Mokaev would certainly fit in with the other fighters on the card. MVP has done a good job of cobbling together a collection of former UFC names that have been rejected by the current regime for one reason or another. Jake Paul and Ronda Rousey are using this card to publicly shame UFC for their low pay and poor fighter treatment. Mokaev’s ejection from the UFC certainly ties into that, and would be another story they could promote coming into May.
