When Diego Pavia is being mentioned in the same breath as Peyton Manning for his performance vs. Kentucky football, that tells you how great he was and what kind of day it was for the Wildcats.
In Vanderbilt’s
45-17 win over the Wildcats, Pavia passed for 484 yards (school record) on 33/39 passing. He threw for five touchdowns, while also rushing for another to account for all six of the Commodores’ touchdowns.
Pavia is in the midst of an incredible season, but he took it to another level Saturday. With 484 passing yards, it’s the most by an opposing quarterback against Kentucky since Peyton Manning threw for 523 on November 22, 1997, according to UK statistician Corey Price.
Sometimes, you just have to tip your cap to someone like Pavia, who showed his greatness in spades Saturday. Three of Pavia’s touchdowns went to Tre Richardson, who had six receptions for 159 yards and an average of 26.5 yards per reception.
Kentucky will play for bowl eligibility at Louisville next Saturday, with a noon kickoff on the ACC Network.
