Tyson Fury’s latest opponent will go right back to competing in freakshow fights after suffering a loss to “The Gypsy King” last weekend.
Mariusz Wach is a 46 year old former boxing contender whose legitimate career has largely been over for a decade now. Over the past ten years he’s put together a 7-11 record in boxing, but that doesn’t capture his recent specialty: fighting multiple opponents at once in ridiculous stunt matches.
How did Wach end up being Tyson Fury’s tune-up opponent en route to
his highly anticipated superfight with Anthony Joshua? Who knows! But Fury and Wash fought in front of a small crowd of 1,500 people in Thailand on July 24th, 2026. Wach would quit on the stool after 7 rounds of getting punched up.
Now Wach is getting right back to the freakshow fights. Immediately after losing to Fury, it was announced that “Wiking” will be facing six men under the Prime MMA banner on August 8th.
Prime Summer fest will feature Wach versus “A 6-person GYPSY TEAM!” The bout will take place under K-1 kickboxing rules but with MMA gloves. Apparently, Wach will not have to face all six men at once — he will fight two at a time, with the six men being able to tag in and out.
The bout just underscores how unserious Fury’s last tune-up fight was. That’s fair enough, considering “The Gypsy King” did fight Arslanbek Makhmudov in a more legitimate affair back in April. That fight was aired on Netflix and saw 64,500 people show up at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London to witness Fury fight.
The Wach bout, by comparison, was planned to only be aired on Fury’s Netflix reality show ‘At Home With The Furys.’ Footage of the fight leaked because of course it did, but that match was little more than a ‘keep busy’ bout for Fury after his fight with Anthony Joshua was delayed due to “AJ’s” car crash at the end of 2025.
With Fury beating Wach and Joshua (barely) beating Kristian Prenga, the stage is set for Fury vs. Joshua in November. Hopefully there’s no more delays, no more pointless set-up fights, and we can finally get this bout over before both fighters are any further past their prime.
