The tight end room has seen a swap to begin Week 8.
A week after the Seattle Seahawks signed veteran tight end Josiah Deguara to their practice squad, in the wake of Elijah Arroyo’s season-ending shoulder injury, they released the seven-year pro to make room for fellow tight end Ben Sims.
Sims, in his fourth season, spent training camp and preseason with the Miami Dolphins before he was placed on injured reserve and ultimately waived with an injury designation early in September.
The former Baylor Bear
went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, signing with the Minnesota Vikings as a UDFA. Sims was released by the Vikings ahead of his rookie campaign and signed with the Green Bay Packers, where he spent his first two seasons, playing in all 34 games, before he was released early last season. He finished the season back with the Vikings, suiting up in eight games.
Across 45 career games, Sims has caught 11 passes for 93 yards and one touchdown.
With Arroyo on injured reserve, Seattle has AJ Barner, Eric Saubert, and Nick Kallerup to call from at tight end on the 53-man roster, while Sims now rounds out the group on the practice squad.
