After getting back into the win column, the 10-3 Los Angeles Rams will host the 8-5 Detroit Lions on Sunday December 14 at SoFi Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1:25 p.m. PST. Detroit heads west needing a win to stay
in the playoff hunt. They are currently at #8, one spot out of the show. The Rams are tied atop the NFC West but hold a tenuous percentage points lead. A win lets them keep it for next week’s Thursday Night Football first place battle with the Seattle Seahawks.
Dating back to 1937, the Rams and Lions have a storied history. Through iterations in Cleveland, Los Angeles, Anaheim, St Louis, and back to Los Angeles, the Rams hold a slim 45-43-1 overall lead in the series. Detroit has won the last two meetings, a 24-23 playoff meeting in 2023 and 26-20 in 2024. Since Sean McVay took over in 2017, it’s been a 2-2 wash.
On the injury front, the Rams have listed WR Davante Adams (hamstring) as questionable, but Sean McVay seems optimistic he’ll be ready to go. The Lions have seven players with a questionable designation. Offensive linemen Taylor Decker (shoulder), Christian Mahogany (fibula), and Kayode Awosika (foot), safety Thomas Harper (concussion), tight end Shane Zylstra (knee), wide receiver/returner Kalif Raymond (ankle), and running back Sione Vaki (thumb). Detroit has ruled safeties Kerby Joseph and Brian Branch out for the game.
