Yaroslav Amosov delivered a statement performance earlier tonight (Sat., May 9, 2026) at UFC 328 LIVE on Paramount+ from inside Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, earning a dominant second-round submission (arm-triangle choke) over veteran finisher Joel Alvarez.
Amosov, who is Bellator MMA’s former welterweight champion, made a big splash in his Octagon debut last December when he submitted Neil Magny. Saturday’s matchup against Alvarez was another chance for Amosov to prove he’s one of the best
welterweights in the world and ready for top 15 competition. Alvarez was a decent underdog, but he’s as dangerous as they come.
After a first round that saw Amosov dominate most of the action, the Ukrainian contender secured a massive slamming takedown that rocked Alvarez early into the second. Amosov went right into an arm-triangle choke and never looked back. He squeezed pretty quickly as Alvarez was ready to tap.
