Bayern Munich is about to enter a stretch of games that could tell us a lot about the true character of this team. After two consecutive draws, the margin for excuses is shrinking, and the upcoming clashes against RB Leipzig and Arsenal present an opportunity to respond in the strongest possible way.
First up is Leipzig, a dangerous domestic opponent that will demand greater intensity, sharper decision-making, and a more complete performance than Bayern Munich has delivered recently. Three points
are essential, not only to get back on track, but also to restore the feeling that Bayern is firmly in control of its situation.
Then comes Arsenal in the Champions League, the more significant test. Bayern Munich will have to face one of Europe’s strongest sides without Michael Olise, whose creativity, quality, and ability to unlock defenses will be sorely missed. That makes the preparation, tactical adjustments, and individual performances even more important. Others will have to step up, take responsibility, and prove that this team is not dependent on one player to make the difference.
Bayern Munich does not need to panic over two draws, but it cannot afford to treat those results as meaningless, either. The defensive lapses, missed opportunities, and inconsistent individual displays must be addressed immediately. Vincent Kompany and his coaching staff need to get the preparation right, while the players must rediscover the ruthlessness that has made Bayern Munich such a feared opponent in the first place.
Most importantly, Bayern Munich needs to remind the competition who it is. FC Bayern’s “alpha status” in European football cannot rest on reputation alone. It must be reinforced on the pitch, especially when circumstances become difficult.
These next two matches are a chance to prove that the last two games were a slight misstep, not a harbinger of doom. Bayern Munich has the talent to beat Leipzig and compete with Arsenal, even without Olise. Now they need the mentality, discipline, and hunger to match it.
This might just be the time that we find out what Bayern Munich is made of.
Song of the Week: “Get You” by Bad Sports
I was in the mood for a little punk this morning, but did not opt for the classic version of the genre. Instead, I went with a little-known band out of Austin, Texas — Bad Sports. Released in 2013, “Get You” did not exactly get much critical acclaim, but I have always liked it. Maybe you will, too (or maybe not):
Eberl not ready to confirm anything with Kane
Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl was asked about reports that broke on Thursday indicating that the club has reached a full agreement on a new contract with Harry Kane.
“I read that, too. But the situation is the same. The talks are going well, but there’s nothing to announce yet,” Eberl said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
So… what should fans take from this? Probably not much. The deal looks like it is getting closer to being finalized. In the end, it just looks like a matter of timing for everyone.
Entertainment Rundown
I don’t have anything to review just yet, but there was some news on a show we have reviewed in the past — Daredevil: Born Again. The confirmation that season three will be its last was handled by Brad Winderbaum, Marvel TV, Animation, and Comics head honcho (as captured by Bleeding Cool):
It was back in September when the news dropped that Showrunner Dario Scardapane’s Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio-starring Daredevil: Born Again would be ending its run with the upcoming third season. The move came two months after the live-action series wrapped filming on what is now its final season. In addition, the report noted that Marvel Studios and Scardapane had parted ways before post-production had wrapped, with the showrunner’s contract not renewed. But despite earlier reporting, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel TV, Animation, and Comics head, confirmed during his one-on-one with Brandon Davis that the cast and production team knew at the start of Season 3 that the series would end its run. In addition, Winderbaum teases what viewers can expect from the final run.
It looks like season three will be the final set of episodes… unless some record ratings occur (if that happens, it appears anything could be on the table):
