We are back with our final episode of “Before the Roar,” where myself (Morgan) and my good friend Meko Scott are breaking down the last game of the Detroit Lions’ 2025 season against the Chicago Bears,
as well as taking a look ahead to what the offseason might hold.
We begin by quickly recapping the Lions’ Week 17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, and how we are feeling about several topics as we head into the final week of the regular season. Should the Lions consider resting key players against the Bears? And why Lions fans should be pulling for the Vikings to beat the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Finishing with a winning season in a, “Down,” year while also securing a fourth-place schedule? Works for me!
From there we pivot into the offseason discussion and what the next few months could look like for the Lions. Will Lions general manager Brad Holmes change aspects of his approach for the 2026 NFL Draft? As of now, Detroit is expected to have eight total draft picks, and should be picking somewhere in the 11-18 range.
How will Holmes and his staff approach several tough decisions concerning players like linebacker Alex Anzalone and cornerback Amik Robertson who are currently on expiring contracts? We know that Detroit will likely restructure several contracts in order to create salary cap room, but will that be enough for them to make a splah or two when it comes to free agency?
Lastly, we finish up by offering our thoughts on the coaching staff, and how Lions coach Dan Campbell will likely have to shuffle some things around ahead of next Fall. You can listen to the entire episode wherever you get your podcasts, and you can watch right here.
