Borussia Dortmund fans can breathe a sigh of relief. After a very concerning incident in last week’s Champions League match against Villarreal, in which Konstantinos Karetsas was stretchered off the pitch and driven to a hospital with circulatory issues, the 18-year-old Greek talent has received the all-clear to resume training. After undergoing a thorough examination, he was found to be in good health, at least with no serious issues that would cause him to miss multiple games or threaten his long-term
health. Per Ruhr Nachrichten, he could be available to face VfB Stuttgart this weekend.
A lot of media sources are speculating that Karetsas was simply dehydrated. While we obviously can’t know for sure, it is worth noting as a PSA that even moderate dehydration can have pretty nasty side-effects, including light-headedness and feeling faint. These guys might be professional athletes but they still need water and electrolytes just like the rest of us. Drink your fluids, folks!
