Jalen Hurts’ 22-yard scramble on a key 3rd-and-18 was impactful in Philadelphia’s 24-22 victory over the Washington Commanders. It was longer lasting for Washington than just one game.
Linebacker Jordan Magee
got hurt on that play, suffering a hamstring strain that will keep him out for some time. The Commanders placed him on injured reserve on Wednesday afternoon, meaning he’ll miss at least for games while recovering from the ailment. The previously reported Lucas Patrick signing was the corresponding move.
While Magee is the fourth linebacker in Washington’s deep position group, his loss remains a blow on defense and special teams.
This loss is magnified by Frankie Luvu’s own hamstring issue. His injury will keep him out of Wednesday’s practice and his status for Week 2 at Dallas is up in the air.
Sonny Styles and Leo Chenal are the top healthy linebackers, with Kain Medrano as a reserve on the active roster. The Commanders also have Ale Kaho and Austin Keys on the practice squad. Washington could activate one of those two without having to alter the 53-man roster for the Cowboys game.
