Florian Wirtz is out to prove a point with the German national football team, and he did just that with a 61st minute goal, joining Bayern Munich midfielder Tom Bischof on the scoresheet for a 2-0 win. In scoring his goal, Wirtz joins a special club for players who scored goals before hitting a certain age:
12 – Wirtz scored his 12th goal for Germany at the age of 21 years and 37 days; the only players to reach this milestone for the German national team at a younger age were Edmund Conen in 1935 (20 years, 281 days) and Lukas Podolski in 2006 (20 years, 357 days).
Little feet.
The former Bayer Leverkusen star has hit a rough patch ever since his move to England and has struggled to make his mark there, but he reminded everyone that he’s still capable of performing when needed. Wirtz won Man of the Match after the game.
