Don’t bet against Alex Pereira … at least not in public. Because if you do, “Poatan” may show up in your comments section ready to rip you a new one.
Pereira might look like a stonefaced killer, but most behind-the-scenes reports have him being a pretty nice and chill guy. Just don’t get on his bad side, because he will go after you. We learned that when a reporter revealed that Pereira’s sister Aline (now set to fight on May’s MVP MMA card) was working as an Amazon driver. “Poatan” didn’t appreciate
that angle of the story and made it clear in a long Instagram that the reporter was ‘evil’ and ‘creating discord.’
Now he’s going after fellow Brazilian UFC fighter Melquizael Costa because “The Dalmatian” dared to pick Jon Jones over Pereira in a hypothetical fight.
“Never ask me a question thinking I will stay on top of the wall,” Costa wrote on Instagram. “If this fight happens it will be two Goats fighting, the best striker vs the best grappling. And yeah I think JJ would win.”
“Bro you root for whoever you want and it’s all right!” Pereira responded. “F–ked up is saying something you don’t even know and as if I did something to you.”
Pereira then dug up some history between the two fighters.
“When I was at the LFA and you were going to fight … you came and stuck your phone in my face when I was at the hotel drinking coffee and eating, you didn’t even ask if you could. I said you had to ask me if you could record a video, maybe you got mad because I called you out.”
“But I thought you weren’t mad because we were having dinner together in Mexico and I was giving you strength because you were crying because you lost the fight. Now when you win two fights you’re the almighty? Bro, I can lose 8 matches in a row!”
This led to the 145 pound Costa challenging the 247 pound Pereira to a grappling match … and then quickly withdrawing the offer. That’s probably because he is set to fight Arnold Allen in the main event of UFC Vegas 117 on May 16. Grappling a much larger, angry “Poatan” doesn’t seem like a good idea in the best of circumstances, let alone a month before your first UFC headline fight.
All this over what sounded like a respectful fight prediction! Oh meu Deus!
