The Wisconsin Badgers had only two players taken in the 2025 NFL Draft, as safety Hunter Wohler was selected in the seventh round by the Indianapolis Colts, while offensive tackle Jack Nelson was selected in the seventh round by the Atlanta Falcons.
But, there were several players who signed deals as undrafted free agents, including guard Joe Huber, whom many analysts projected to be a Day 3 pick.
Huber, a transfer from Cincinnati who spent his final two seasons at Wisconsin, impressed throughout the
preseason. He was the highest-graded undrafted rookie from the first week of the preseason with a 94.7 grade, according to PFF, and was later considered the best run-blocker of any lineman in the preseason.
Huber also had the most pass-blocking snaps (49) without allowing a pressure of any lineman during Week 2 of the preseason.
After playing the most snaps for the Vikings in the preseason, he has now made the 53-man roster, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The news is a massive update for Huber, who is the second undrafted rookie to make the 53-man roster in addition to quarterback Max Brosmer. The former Badgers guard had quite a bit of competition in Minnesota’s offensive line room, but was able to make the most of his opportunity and is now joining a playoff team for the 2025 season.
The Vikings had high hopes for Huber, guaranteed him $210,000 as an undrafted free agent coming out of the draft. Now, that hope has been repaid with strong play, leading to a 53-man roster spot on a hectic day in the NFL.
