The Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders face off Sunday afternoon in a critical game for both teams. For the 3-6 Commanders, their season is already in danger of falling into “irrelevant” territory.
With Jayden Daniels sidelined for at least a few games and a tough stretch of football ahead, it’s hard to imagine them turning the season around. But it’ll be nearly impossible if they lose this week to the Lions.
Detroit, meanwhile, is struggling to find their identity entirely, especially on offense. It’s starting to look like their significant losses on the offensive line—and loss of offensive coordinator Ben Johnson—may have had more of an effect on the 2024 No. 1 offense in football. Detroit does still have the second-highest scoring offense, but in recent weeks it has not looked good. The run game has struggled, Jared Goff has been under duress, and their third-down offense is one of the worst in the NFL.
