With the Red Sox off to a dreadful 9-15 start, it’s time to pause and assess the level of concern among the fanbase. So on a scale of 1 to 10, with one being not concerned at all and ten being “this is going full Bobby Valentine season,” where do you reside?
Personally, I’m at about a five. The only reason it’s not higher is because I still see upside in the rotation, which could play big in June, July and August when rosters around the league run out of gas. As long as that upside remains, the window
for the Sox to make a run will remain open.
However, there’s no denying that what we’ve seen so far is a complete mess! Guys are underachieving across the board, the roster doesn’t fit together, and every game they fall further behind means a steeper hill to climb without the benefit of a heavy hitting lineup. If this continues and the rotation takes any long-term hits, then the bottom of the ocean becomes the limit.
Talk about this and whatever else you’d like, and as always, be good to one another.
