As both the dirt sheets and the company itself told us it was about to, WWE added a few names to its Independent Development program on Evolve tonight (Oct. 29).
Three men join the ranks of the newest layer
of the developmental program, which essentially gives WWE some control over indie wrestlers bookings and right of first refusal on signing them to a full-time deal in exchange for a small stipend, access to WWE training facilities & affiliate schools, and opportunities to be on television & streaming shows like Evolve.
Cuts and departures have thinned WWE ID’s ranks since it was launched last year. Some of those spots are now taken by Mike Cunningham, Eli Knight, and Jha’Quan McNair.
Cunningham calls himself “The Main Man”, and said he trained at the Nightmare Factory with Cody Rhodes. He says he doesn’t have many matches under his belt, and there’s not much about him online. But he says the Undisputed WWE champ called him a top student.
Knight on the other hand has been around since 2018. The high-flier’s appeared for Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling (an ID affiliate), GCW, and 4th Rope, usually as half of Culture Inc. with Malik Bosede.
McNair is more like Cunningham. He’s a former Division 1 collegiate wrestler that’s trained at Team Fearless Training Academy with WCW-ex Lodi.
Good luck, young sirs. We look forward to following your pro wrestling journey.
