ProBox is filling up its end-of-year schedule, announcing a November 21st show in Fort Lauderdale last Friday and one on the 29th in Fresno earlier today.
The November 21st card, itself on a Friday, sees
Argentina-born Fort Lauderdal…ian(?) Francisco Veron (15-1-1, 10 KO) take on former welterweight contender Roiman Villa (37-3, 25 KO). Former Olympian Veron drew with Jahi Tucker in 2023 and dropped a decision to resurgent veteran Brandon Adams a year later, but is coming off a wide decision over veteran spoiler Vladimir Hernandez this past July. Villa, for his part, burst onto the scene with back-to-back upsets over Janelson Bocachica and Rashidi Ellis before suffering knockout losses to Jaron Ennis (understandable) and Ricardo Salas (concerning).
Welterweight Ruben Aguilar (23-0-1, 20 KO), super featherweight Francois Scarboro Jr (11-0, 8 KO) and light heavyweight Dante Benjamin (12-0-1, 9 KO) serve as the undercard A-sides.
Over in California, former super bantamweight champ Jessie Magdaleno (30-3, 19 KO) tries to get his foot in the door at 130 against Muhammad Yaqubov (23-1, 12 KO), winner of five straight since an unsuccessful final eliminator against O’Shaquie Foster. Magdaleno became the first man to stop Top Rank standby Luis Coria in March, while Yaqubov took a majority decision over William Foster III on ProBox’s August 15th show in Plant City.
Billed as a double header, the show also sees top light flyweight Erik Badillo (18-0, 8 KO) battle former titlist Elwin “La Pulga” Soto (21-3-1, 13 KO). 2016 Olympian (C/K)arlos Balderas (16-2, 14 KO) appears as well, making his second Fresno appearance of the year.
