Jon Jones is hoping to land a heavyweight superfight with Francis Ngannou, whether or not that’s in partnership with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) .
On Saturday, Jones was in attendance to witness the historic “Rousey vs. Carano” MMA card on Netflix in Los Angeles, Calif., which included a heavyweight fight between former UFC champion Francis Ngannou and Philipe Lins. Jones and Ngannou share a rocky past, but also have a level of appreciation and respect for one another. That didn’t stop Ngannou from
calling Jones out following a sensational knockout win over Lins (watch HERE).
Check out Ngannou’s callout below:
“He should be watching what I’m doing and learn. Figure it out and come make this fight,” said Ngannou.
Jones, who was there to offer some commentary, ended up talking about his ongoing contract issues with UFC. The UFC legend was surprisingly passed up for the upcoming White House card this June and has been in a battle of he said, she said with UFC CEO, Dana White, ever since. It’s safe to say that Jones would like out of his current UFC contract to ink a long-awaited showdown with Ngannou, which would likely take place under the Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) banner.
Check it out below:
“I’ve got to try to focus on getting out of my UFC contract,” said Jones. “That’s going to be the difficult part if this fight’s going to happen. I don’t think Dana is interested in doing business with Francis, so doing it with MVP would probably be the only way to make it happen, and if we can get out of my contract that would be great.”
What do you say, fight fans? Is there any way for Jones to get out of his UFC contract? Or is there any way Ngannou can make peace with UFC and book a return against Jones?
