The University of Iowa Athletics Department has officially released its Week 6 depth chart as the Hawkeyes prepare for their three-game gauntlet to open Big Ten play this season.
Both Zach Lutmer (FS) and Deshaun Lee (RC) left Saturday’s game with injuries and did not return yet still appear on this week’s depth chart. During his post-game press conference Kirk Ferentz alluded to it being due to cramping, so we’ll see what sound bites are sprinkled around when Kirk Speaks later this week. Tyler Brown
(SS) does not appear on the depth chart again this week after dealing with nagging hamstring / soft tissues this fall. Once again Anthony Hawkins starts in his place.
The offensive line is also status quo. Iowa has had issues preventing penetration when rushing the ball against P4 opponents. It will be interesting to see if there are any shifts to the lineup in the actual game versus Washington, such as moving Kade Pieper over to center where he was originally expected to start before the season began.
The running back room remains the same as last week with Kamari Moulton listed as the starter, and Xavier Williams as his backup. However, in last Saturday’s game versus OSU, LJ Phillips was the running back with the second most carries in the game behind Moulton, and Xavier Williams did not have any carries or receptions.
Depth Chart Notes
Positions listed with OR are ordered numerically. The starting defensive lineup will vary based on formation and personnel packages.
