The battle for the AFC West hears up in Week 8 with the 5-1 Kansas City Chiefs on the road to take on our 5-2 Denver Broncos. The winner of today’s game will be atop of the division and in control of their own destiny heading into the second half of the season.
Game preview
The Chiefs began the season red hot as one of the last remaining unbeaten teams heading into last week. However, they were steamrolled by the Seattle Seahawks for their first loss while the Broncos stacked their third-straight win to close
to within a half game of Kansas City. Now this game becomes one where the winner is setup for an excellent stretch run within the division.
The pressure is on the Broncos more than the Chiefs here, though. If Denver loses their hopes of winning the AFC West collapse with a season sweep by the division-leading Chiefs who would then be up multiple games on the second place Broncos. However, a Denver win would put them a half game in front of Kansas City with the Chiefs facing a brutal five game stretch next month that could send them into a tailspin… especially if Denver keeps winning.
