A win Sunday in Week 6 for the Cleveland Browns versus the Pittsburgh Steelers could not only be a game-changer for HC Kevin Stefanski but could change the course of NFL trade rumors and discussions. The
Browns have already dealt away QB Joe Flacco and CB Greg Newsome II, but neither of those trades was a definite “white flag on the season” type of move.
Flacco had been replaced by QB Dillon Gabriel as a starter and appreciated the chance to start again, while QB Shedeur Sanders proved to Cleveland’s staff that he was ready as the backup. Tyson Campbell steps right into Newsome’s spot with size and physicality.
The Browns roster has a lot of players set to hit free agency at the end of the season, which could be why five of them were listed by ESPN’s Adam Schefter as trade possibilities:
- TE David Njoku
- OL Wyatt Teller
- OL Joel Bitonio
- OL Ethan Pocic
- DT Shelby Harris
While Cleveland RB Jerome Ford was not listed, Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network noted that a few teams, including the Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs, are on the lookout for running back help. The Jacksonville Jaguars, who the Browns have traded with twice already this season, are looking for help on the defensive line (Alex Wright, Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, or Harris could fill needs).
As we noted with our WR AJ Brown trade proposal, Philadelphia Eagles GM Howie Roseman “never met a trade he wouldn’t consider…” which could really make for an interesting NFL trade deadline coming up on November 4th.
