Alone inside his hotel room, only 25 minutes away from MetLife Stadium, a jet-lagged Brandon Jacobs started excitedly yelling at the television every time Cam Skattebo crashed into a Cowboys defensive player with purpose.
“He definitely doesn’t give a damn,” Jacobs told The Post. “His attitude shows that. Just the way he carries himself.

The Giants, too, showed off their bully ball offense in the season opener, completely steamrolling the Cowboys’ defense with heavy personnel and Cam Skattebo treating every tackle attempt like an insult. Pat Ricard led the way on plenty of runs behind the Giants’ talented offensive line. Francis Mauigoa had a good showing in his first NFL action at right guard, along with the strong tackle pairing of Andrew Thomas and Jermaine Eluemunor.
I was impressed by the Giants’ auxiliary blockers at the skill positions, too. Isaiah Likely caught the passes, but the other Giants tight ends showed up to set the edge and create space for the running backs to pick their spots. And rookie Malachi Fields, one of the best blocking prospects in this year’s wide receiver class, picked up where he left off in college, providing several crack blocks on the edge and the willingness and ability to insert inside. The Giants’ Week 2 opponent, the preseason Super Bowl favorite Rams, had issues in 2025 against heavier personnel groupings. L.A. allowed 5.9 yards per play on early downs against offenses with two or fewer wide receivers.

New York Giants WR Malik Nabers vs. Los Angeles Rams CB Trent McDuffie. Monday night’s showdown is sneakily a big one. The Rams hope to play in much greater rhythm against a Giants team with momentum. This game incorporates several fascinating player matchups, but none better than this. Nabers made his return from an early-season torn ACL and was effective. Against Dallas, he caught six of nine targets for 69 yards, compiling a 71.0 overall PFF grade with 2.88 yards per route run.
While Los Angeles’ defense experienced a cataclysmic opener, McDuffie was the exception. In his Rams debut, McDuffie made his presence felt against both the pass and run to earn an 83.4 overall PFF grade. Given the Rams’ zone-heavy approach against the 49ers — deploying such looks on 84.6% of defensive snaps — it’s possible we’ll see Nabers rotate against both McDuffie and Jaylen Watson. Nonetheless, the snaps between these two players will be a great war.

We’ll see what happens Monday night, when the Giants visit the Rams. It’s entirely possible that Devin Singletary could continue to be the Giants’ secondary back, behind Cam Skattebo.

Horton credited Zvada for his five kickoffs Sunday night against Dallas. The Cowboys often use one returner, and Horton said moving that player with precise placement takes skill. “He came out here, he practiced his butt off for us to put that ball in,” Horton said. “Sunday night, I mean, he was on point, and it was really good.”
The same process guides field-goal range. The staff warms Zvada up, picks a line and sticks with it unless weather intervenes. To start a game, the Giants felt good from 58 yards. Of course, he never had to attempt one. “If you’ve got to start the game, we feel good at like 58 yards,” Horton said. “This kid, he has a strong enough leg to get the ball there. But it’s all about the consistency.”

The two sides have been here because of a significant difference between the Steelers’ view of Porter’s value and how Porter values himself. The core issue is the structure of the contract, sources told ESPN, and the Steelers’ organizational precedent that doesn’t fully guarantee a healthy portion of the contract was considered a sizable hurdle. The sides simply did not get close to bridging that guaranteed gap, which sources say made any talks about a per-year average on a deal moot. “It never even got that far,” a source said.
The Steelers could trade Porter, though the team has neither made nor received any serious inquiries about the cornerback. One NFL executive believes the Steelers could get a second-round pick in exchange for Porter and a quality Day 3 draft selection.
