The Houston Texans are coming off a last second loss to the Buffalo Bills, in which the offense played well above what we expected, while the defense played well below what we expected.
All offseason, the talk around town was how the offense would bounce back, especially quarterback C.J. Stroud, and he delivered in the first game of the season. The rushing attack looked good, the wide receivers were getting open, and the offensive line played as well as they could have until the last drive, in which
Stroud was sacked multiple times, which was the final nail in the coffin.
The defense was torched all day long, which was a huge surprise in general, but specifically against Josh Allen, whom they have had immense success against the last few matchups. The defensive line was not getting home, and the defensive backs were getting beat left and right. This was very uncharacteristic for the defense, and they have too much talent to have this linger. They should be back to themselves soon.
Another home matchup coming for the second consecutive week, this time against Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Here is a look at Friday’s injury report:
DID NOT PARTICIPATE:
-WR Nico Collins (OUT)
-RG Ed Ingram (OUT)
-DE Jadeveon Clowney (OUT)
-LB Jake Hummel (OUT)
FULL PARTICIPATION:
-LB Wade Woodaz (Thumb)
-OT Trent Brown (Hand/Wrist)
Houston is dealing with a multitude of injuries this week, but none bigger than Nico Collins, who is far and away their best player on offense. They will lean on Xavier Hutchinson, Kayshon Boutte, and Jaylin Noel in his absence.
Former All-Pro guard Wyatt Teller is set to take the place of Ed Ingram.
The Texans need to get in the win column, and it starts this weekend.
