Per a Spurs press release:
“Spurs Sports & Entertainment (SS&E) today announced that Dr. Charles Harris Jr. has joined the organization as vice president of technology. In this role, Harris will lead SS&E’s enterprise technology strategy and operations across its teams, venues and business functions, including infrastructure, cybersecurity, venue technology, ticketing systems and fan-facing digital experiences. He will also provide strategic oversight for the technology components of SS&E’s new downtown
arena project.”
The mission in hiring Harris is specifically to help modernize Spurs Sports & Entertainment’s technology ecosystem and support the systems that power games, concerts and other live events across the organization’s franchises and facilities.
RC Buford stated,
“Charles has spent his career overseeing the technology and systems that help organizations operate, grow and adapt, and we’re excited to welcome him to SS&E. His expertise will help us continue creating seamless and engaging experiences for fans across our teams and venues.”
Harris joins the Spurs family after serving as vice president of technology for the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He holds a Ph.D. in Modeling and Simulation from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Science in Technology from Purdue University.
Harris commented,
