Following a dominant win away to Galatasaray in the Champions League in midweek, Barcelona return to La Liga action for their toughest domestic test yet as the leaders travel to Seville to face Real Betis at La Cartuja on Saturday evening.
Barça come into this one looking to make it eleven wins out of eleven in their history-making start to the season, and the manner of the victory in Istanbul provided yet another example of just how great this team looks right now.
The first two wins in this massive five-game stretch were very impressive, but the three final matches are the biggest tests and it all begins on Saturday against a side that is undoubtedly the second best team in Spain this season.
Betis are off to their best-ever start to a La Liga campaign with six wins and 19 points from their first 8 games, and Manuel Pellegrini’s side have also won both of their Champions League matches so far in thrilling fashion against quality opponents in Lille and Porto.
The Verdiblancos are a joy to watch, playing high-intensity attacking football with a lot of threat on the wings and plenty of quality in midfield. The defense has conceded 13 goals in 10 matches so far in all competitions, but the attack has more than made up for it as Betis are not afraid to go toe-to-toe with any opponent.
Antony and Ez Abde will test Barça’s full-backs to the limit, Gio Lo Celso and Isco are two excellent number 10’s who will create danger no matter which of them starts, and goalkeeper Álvaro Vallés has come up with monster late saves in key wins against Real Madrid and Porto.
Betis have also been brilliant at La Cartuja, winning every home game this season and not losing a single La Liga match at their temporary home since the 5-3 defeat to Barça last December, a game that Barça thorougly dominated for an hour with Lamine Yamal playing in midfield and Ferran Torres scoring a hat-trick.
Barça and Betis are the very best La Liga have to offer right now and always bring out the very best in each other, especially in Seville where Betis amp up their intensity and feed off the energy of the crowd to cause plenty of chaos.
Hansi Flick’s side cannot look ahead to next week’s monster clashes against PSG and Real Madrid and must take this one very seriously or their perfect record will be in serious jeopardy. This is the best Betis side they’ll face in recent history, and this promises to be a brutal test with a whole lot of entertainment in store.
Let’s dance.

PREDICTION
Betis and Barça only know how to play awesome games, especially in Seville, and this will be no different. This is undoubtedly the toughest test yet for Flick’s troops, but I’m trusting them to escape La Cartuja with a thrilling win in the best game of the La Liga season so far: 3-2 to the good guys.
