The Liverpool FC U21s progressed through the hilariously named EFL Jersey Mike’s Trophy on Tuesday night. Away at League Two side Rochdale, and a man down after Mor Talla Ndiaye got himself sent off midway through the first half at the 21 minute mark, Liverpool went down 1-0 after Devante Rodney opened the scoring for the hosts from outside the box.

A pair of Ian Henderson goals for the hosts, including a sublime lob of Liverpool keeper Harvey Davies from outside the box had the hosts looking like they’d progress, only for a pair of inury-time goals from substitutes Ben Trueman and Josh Sonni-Lambie to tie up the game. Sonni-Lambe scored virtually with the last kick of the game to send Robe Page’s side into a penalty shootout, which they won 7-6.
What a result for the young lads.
