The Portland Fire are taking on the Connecticut Sun in one of the more unusual start times I’ve ever seen: 8:00 AM PDT. That’s right, 8:00 AM. On a Tuesday. Why so early? Apparently they are celebrating their mascot’s birthday — named Blaze — by getting kids’ summer camps in the area to come to the game for the party. Maybe the Fire can ruin that imposter’s day and send a whole bunch of kids back to camp unhappy.
The Sun are in last place at 5-18, but three of their wins have come in their last six
games, and they recently played the Minnesota Lynx tough in a two-game set. The 10-13 Fire are coming off of one of their better wins on the season, defeating the Atlanta Dream 102-92 on Saturday in Atlanta.
Injury reports aren’t currently available as of this writing, but rising Sun star (redundant?) Aneesah Morrow has already been ruled out.
Talk about the game here, and check back for our recap after the game.
