Everton huffed and puffed to a scoreless draw over the weekend at Bolton Wanderers, looking just as inept in front of goal as they did for a lot of last season. Granted they do have a few players still recovering and in preseason form, but the disquiet among the fanbase continues to grow.

and Tyrique George being made permanent. They have however officially lost Idrissa Gueye who will not be returning after the expiry of his contract. Player of the Season James Garner is out for the entirety of the preseason, and his return date is also in doubt though the official line is that he’s due back for the opening weekend of the new Premier League campaign.
Hosts Stoke City finished 17th in the Championship last season, and have opened the preseason with a loss at Braga followed by a draw with Crewe Alexandra over the weekend.
