New Transfer Portal Window Finalized.
After months of build-up, the new transfer portal rules are now official. There will be one transfer window for football, taking place from January 2nd through the 16th. This will appease most coaches, who will know prior to spring ball who is staying on their roster. Opponents argue that this will result in a quicker turnaround time to get new players in before the semester begins, especially since not every school starts at the same time. Also of note, when a coach fires or leaves a school, the portal will open for that school for 15 days instead of 30, and the window will open after the new coach is hired rather than right after the coach leaves. Hopefully, this will cut down on mass exoduses or at least give new coaches a fighting chance.
Athlon Bowl Projections
In this week’s version, Athlon has Boise State going to the LA Bowl and Utah State in the Potato Bowl. San Diego State debuts in the Frisco Bowl, while Hawaii remains home in the Hawaii Bowl. The Bulldogs will travel to the First Responder’s Bowl and San Jose State is slated for the Arizona Bowl. UNLV is still banished to the New Mexico Bowl, but seven teams for the Mountain West is great for the conference.
