The Atlanta Braves received some unfortunate news on Tuesday as Walt Weiss announced that right-hander Bryce Elder would be missing some time. According to Weiss, Elder underwent a minor knee surgery and will require a three to four week recovery window. Fortunately, there is a possibility he appears in the postseason.
Elder has reportedly been dealing with the issue for a couple of months, and his recent outings may be indicative of that. Over his last three appearances, he’s allowed a combined nine runs on 20 hits.
The Braves hope that other members of the pitching staff will be effective during Elder’s absence and he can return to midseason form just in time for Atlanta’s postseason run.
