TNA’s biggest show of the year closed with a happy ending as Mike Santana won the TNA World Championship from Trick Williams at Bound For Glory (Oct. 12, 2025). The gold is back home where it belongs. The good times were almost ruined, however, Elijah made a surprise return to keep the vibes rolling.
The TNA World Championship had been held by an outsider for nearly five months (140 days). Santana was finally the man for the job to dethrone Trick Williams from NXT. The PPV main event started with
chaos as Santana and Williams brawled through the crowd. Trick Willy had tricks up his sleeve and clocked Santana with the title belt. Williams rolled Santana into the ring, and the match was officially underway. Trick tried to get the easy pin, but Santana wasn’t going down like a sucker.
It took a while for Santana to pick up steam after getting busted open from being catapult into the ring post. Trick made a big mistake talking trash to Santana’s young daughter. She slapped the man, and Santana was hot on the spot for a dive outside.
Santana seized the momentum for a powerbomb and a 450 splash. Williams weathered the storm of rage to survive and continue the match.
Trick’s lawyer tried to influence the result. That interference led to tense counter sequences and some dramatic near falls. Santana wiped that lawyer chump out with the Spin the Block lariat. Santana and Trick exchanged finishers. Both men were down. Santana looked out to his daughter for motivation. He fired up to hit Spin the Block for the win. New champion!
Hold on.
The celebration was crashed by Nic Nemeth. Earlier in the evening, Nemeth and Frankie Kazarian both won the Call Your Shot Gauntlet on a double pin. Santino Marella declared both men victorious. The prize is to cash in the trophy for an instant title shot.
Nemeth’s plans were canceled when Elijah made a surprise return to hit him in the head with the guitar. Frankie Kazarian plotted from the backside, but Santana spun his block. No cash-in on this evening.
Santana was free to embrace the celebration with his daughter. That moment was especially meaningful, because she was the voice of reason that clicked for Santana to get sober in his life.
Santana winning the TNA World Championship was a great story on several levels. Career redemption, turning his life around, and fulfilling his word to his daughter were the personal aspects. The sports entertainment parts revolved on bringing home the world title back to where it belongs. The match was pretty good on its own as a PPV main event with lots of intrigue. Even though all signs pointed to Santana for the feel-good moment, victory was no sure thing. Williams wrestled well with tricks to cloud the anticipated result.
