The Guardians blanked the Tigers last night, giving Tanner Bibee plenty of breathing room for today’s 1:10PM start. With that victory, Cleveland wins the series and gains even more ground on the Tigers. Read the recap here.
Quite a few players in the farm system were given honors as the minor league seasons wind down.
Tommy Hawke and Sean Maston were named Single-A All-Stars after incredible performances with the Lynchburg Hillcats. Hawke impressed many with his base stealing talent. In the first half
of the season he stole a whopping 63 bases. That is not a typo. Hawke ended the season with 65 SB, unfortunately hitting the IL shortly after his promotion to High-A Lake County. Sean Matson, prior to being promoted to Lake County, put up a 1.21 ERA with the Hillcats in 20 starts.
Jacob Cozart and Alfonsin Rosario were named High-A All-Stars. Catcher Jake Cozart put up .299/.344/.364 with 38 RBI during his time at Lake County. Alfonsin Rosario, who came over in the Eli Morgan trade with the Chicago Cubs, showed promise of power this season with 21 home runs on the season, 16 with Lake County. Alfonsin was tapped as Cleveland’s Breakout Prospect by MLB writers for good reason.
Another name that has become quite familiar to those that follow the farm, Josh Hartle was awarded for his incredible season. Not only is he joining fellow teammates as a High-A All-Star, but he was also named the 2025 Midwest League Pitcher of the Year. Hartle ended his season with a 2.54 ERA.
Jordan Smith was named the Carolina League Manager of the Year. The Hillcats finished the regular season 70-59 and, last night, won Game 3 of the Carolina League Championship Series. Making them Champions for the ninth time in club history.
There’s plenty to be excited for when it comes to the future of this organization and plenty of names we’ll get used to rooting for!
