Bayern Munich center-back Kim Min-jae has not always had the smoothest ride at the club, but the Korean defender is happy to be fighting for his place on the team.
“I’m very happy to be able to compete with Jonathan Tah and Dayot Upamecano. We have a lot of competition for places at Bayern every season, but we also have a good relationship with each other. And we talk a lot, so I’m very satisfied; I can learn a lot from them,” Kim said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “I’m very happy to be here with the team;
it’s very special for me to be in Korea. Tomorrow we play against Jeju SK, and we’ll be able to learn a lot from each other. I’m looking forward to tomorrow.”
“As a player, I’m very happy to be at Bayern and very satisfied. I’ve played many games and always given my best and left everything on the pitch. I hope that I’ll get plenty of playing time from the coach this season and that I can stay at the club.”
It has been widely reported that Kim is happy at Bayern Munich and does not want to leave, but the reality is that he will likely not start and have to hope for head coach Vincent Kompany to rotate a little more than last season.
As far as his coach goes, Kim is happy to be able to be learning under the watchful eye of a former center-back.
“Vinnie was also a defender and played in my position, so I can learn a lot from him. He is open, friendly and professional,” Kim stated.
