What is the story about?
Today, Salvador Perez will be crowned the Kansas City Royals Home Run King. I suppose technically he was crowned that in the record books the moment he hit #318. But today, right around the time this is scheduled to publish, Salvy will be honored with an on-field ceremony. Before the game, Royals players were wearing a special t-shirt that has Salvy and 318 written on the front in big font.
Hopefully, this is the first game of a long winning streak. The Royals have a habit of winning a bunch of mathematically
meaningless games in August or September. And while 75 wins doesn’t make the playoffs, 75 would certainly make me feel better about Kansas City’s approach to try to win next year than 65 would.
