You didn’t really think he’d be out of the league forever, did you?
According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, the Cleveland Browns have hired Trent Baalke, the former general manager of the Jacksonville Jaguars (2021-24) and San Francisco 49ers (2011-16), in a “consultant-like capacity.”
Under Baalke, the Niners had a 51-44 regular season record and five postseason wins. The Jags had a 25-43 record and one playoff win. The only players he drafted in Jacksonville with a Pro Bowl nod are former first-round
picks Trevor Lawrence, Devin Lloyd, and Brian Thomas Jr.
Jared Mueller of Dawgs By Nature noted that current Browns general manager Andrew Berry has a history of bringing in failed executives as consultants. Baalke now joins a list that includes names like Bob Quinn, Tom Telesco, and Ryan Grigson.
As plenty have already joked online, Berry’s clock has begun. Could he be the latest executive to be usurped by the weaseling Baalke? How long will it take Baalke to secure a full-time position in Cleveland? Does Baalke already have a strong chance of becoming the Browns’ next general manager?
