Now that the dust has settled a bit on the Los Angeles Rams’ trade of Myles Garrett, I want to compare and contrast the trade with the Green Bay Packers’ trade of Micah Parsons. I’m sure you all have opinions on how the two trades stack up, so I wanted to try to give it a shot myself.
What the Packers gave up for Micah Parsons
- 2026 first-round pick
- 2027 first-round pick
- DT Kenny Clark
What the Rams gave up for Myles Garrett
- 2027 first-round pick
- 2028 second-round pick
- 2029 third-round pick
- EDGE Jared Verse
Personally, I feel like the Rams gave up more for Garrett than the Packers did for Parsons. Jared Verse probably would have taken at least a first-round pick to move off of, and I highly doubt Kenny Clark would have cost
a team a second- and third-round pick to trade for.
Micah Parsons cap hits
- 2025: $10 million
- 2026: $19.2 million
- 2027: $26.8 million
- 2028: $42.3 million
- 2029: $73.8 million
- 2030: $20 million (dead cap)
Myles Garrett cap hits
- 2026: $8.1 million
- 2027: $16.1 million
- 2028: $21.4 million
- 2029: $42.4 million
- 2030: $50 million
- 2031: $19.2 million (dead cap)
Honestly, Garrett is a little cheaper for the Rams from a cap standpoint on a year-by-year basis, but part of that is because they got the Cleveland Browns to trade his contract a year after his latest extension. The Packers, on the other hand, had to give Parsons a contract extension in full after they traded for him.

Other factors obviously in play are health, as Parsons is coming off an ACL tear, and age, as Garrett is 30 years old and Parsons just turned 27.
How do you feel the two trades stack up? Would you have rather made the Garrett trade a year later? Let us know in the comments section.
