Bayern Munich have signaled that they have every intention of offering Konrad Laimer a contract extension at some point before his current contract expires in June of 2027. The Austrian international has
been a valuable asset for Vincent Kompany and Bayern with his ability to play a handful of different positions in defense and midfield, especially when there have been injuries elsewhere in the squad to key players.
Right now, while Bayern’s front office knows they would like to offer Laimer an extension, the length of the extension is not yet decided, though the year 2029 has been discussed internally. Regardless, there’s a consensus amongst the majority of Bayern fans that would agree he’s more than deserving of an extension and all signs are pointing to that happening at some point, likely after the club gets new deals for Dayot Upamecano and Serge Gnabry over the line.
Recently speaking to Sky Sport, Laimer spoke on the matter of the expected extension with Bayern and spoke about how it’s far more than just the money that might be on offer when it comes to him looking at proposed new deals. “It’s not just the money; there are, of course, other factors. I’ve always been a gut-feeling person and always will be. It’s important to me how people talk to you, how people treat you, and how appreciated you feel. That’s why I’ll always make my decisions together with my closest circle. My parents and my wife help me with that,” he explained (via @iMiaSanMia).
Laimer’s currently represented by ROOF, who also represents stars like Kai Havertz, Mohammed Kudus, Virgil van Dijk, David Raum, and Leon Goretzka. For Laimer, though, it’s clear that the people in his inner circle play a big role in the decisions he makes, and with the way his career has gone from RB Salzburg, to RB Leipzig, and then to Bayern, it’s hard to say he’s mad any decisions thus far that haven’t been right for him.
“If I’m then happy with the decision and can look myself in the mirror, then I’m making the decision that’s good for me, and that’s how I’ll always do things,” Bayern’s auxiliary defender and midfielder added.
Laimer’s Bayern Stats at a Glance:
2023/24: 43 matches played, 1 goal, 4 assists
2024/25: 46 matches played, 3 goals, 4 assists
2025/26 (thus far): 24 matches played, 2 goals, 7 assists
*Mind you, Laimer is getting these returns most often playing as a right-back
